Łukasz Malaczewski is a physiotherapist, amateur triathlete and founder of the "FizjoTRIterapia. Follow Your Dreams" Foundation. For several years, he has regularly taken part in IRONMAN series competitions organised in Gdynia. He has also run the Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia twice together with a disabled child - Jaś Kmiec. We asked Łukasz Malaczewski what he remembers the most about his triathlon starts.
Łukasz Malaczewski
I started six times in the IRONMAN competition in Gdynia. On two occasions, I had the pleasure of competing with Jaś Kmieć, a disabled boy who once wanted to run. Unfortunately, it was not possible, but we could take part in the competition together. Jaś covered the swimming route in a pontoon which I pulled. He did the bicycle route in a trailer and the run course in a buggy which I pushed. Those were some of the most beautiful moments in his life. Triathlon starts gave him great joy. The support and cheering of the fans were really incredible.

Łukasz Malaczewski also hopes that he will be able to take part in this year's competition over the full distance of IRONMAN Gdynia.

It used to be our dream to run the full distance together with Jaś. Unfortunately, boy’s death thwarted our plans and we will never manage to do it again, but if I can, I will take part in IRONMAN Gdynia in 2021 season. So I encourage everyone to train and see you on 8 August in Gdynia.
