Triathlete magazine took a look at all IRONMAN 70.3 and IRONMAN events held in 2022. Taking into account the average finishing time, Gdynia ranked second. Only participants in IRONMAN 70.3 Duisburg in Germany completed the 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21.1km run faster.
What's more, an analysis by Triathlete magazine shows that the Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia course was the fastest in the world in 2022. Athletes covered it in an average of 1 hour, 50 minutes and 15 seconds. The attractiveness of the course and the lively cheering of Gdynia's fans, who support the competitors on Świętojańska Street and the Seaside Boulevard in Gdynia, among others, are probably not without significance here.
The event's running course compares equally favourably with the ranking of the fastest IRONMAN distance courses in the world. In 2022, only Mallorca was slightly faster than Gdynia at the full distance!
